About
OUR MISSION

The Newport Beach Historical Society connects people  –  past, present and future  –  by collecting, inspiring, educating, preserving and protecting the unique and vibrant history of the City of Newport Beach, including Balboa, Corona del Mar, Newport Harbor, its islands and offshore, the Back Bay, Newport Coast and Newport Mesa. The Newport Beach Historical Society was formed by Bill Grundy in 1967, later lead by his son Gordon Grundy. It was incorporated as a non-profit 501(C)(3) corporation in December 2014.

100 E Balboa Blvd, Newport Beach, CA 92661, USA. Guided tours are available upon request.

Newport Beach has such a rich and colorful history and so many interesting people who were part of it. Tell us yours or your parent’s or grandparent’s – about anything from the biggest waves surfed to the biggest fish caught. Tell us about your years at Newport Harbor High school or CDM or submit your photos. Tell us about your times on Balboa Island during Bal Week or your best memories dancing at the Rendezvous Ballroom. Or waterskiing in the Back Bay.
