About the Event

Together with The Lido Theater, the Newport Beach Historical Society is honoring the City of Newport Beach's 120th anniversary by showcasing its origin story from the Rancho San Joaquin days and the James Irvine land purchase.  Come watch The Story of Irvine film, and learn about the City of Newport Beach and its shared history with its neighbor, Irvine.  Join NBHS for its first event of the year!

Spanning 150 years, from when James Irvine purchased over 100,000 acres in what is now Orange County, to the incredible transformation from agriculture to real estate in the 1960s, and beyond. This is a compelling look inside our gem of a city and its shared roots with City of Irvine.  With exclusive clips covering the City of Newport Beach, learn how it came to be both a world-class destination and home to over 85,000 residents.
