Mayor Joe Stapleton is exhibiting a NBHS framed photo of the Balboa Pavilion with the Red Car in his office. President Bernie Svalstad, Jennifer Keil (70° Founder & Consultant), and the board of directors appreciate the ongoing partnership with the city. We recently were awarded a community grant.

It's back to school season. We highlight the Newport Beach Grammar School, circa 1947. The McFadden family donated the materials for the first structure founded in 1894. The local townspeople built the wooden school for the first class of eighteen pupils. We appreciate our educators and hope you have a great school year!

Look for historic markers around the city. You will learn your local history. |
Join us at our summer season called Newport Beach Tiki. Our museum explores Newport Beach’s role in the rise of Tiki and reflects on the culture’s enduring legacy. We honor the Hawaiian culture has shaped Orange County’s heritage.

We will have a film screening of Donn of Tiki, an award-winning documentary showcased at the Newport Beach Film Festival. The film screening will be followed by a Q&A with directors Alex Lamb and Max Well on Wednesday, August 13th at 6pm at the Lido Theater. Tickets are $20, so reserve your seat today!

RSVP for our dinner lecture on Newport Beach Tiki with David “Dr. Skip” Marley at the historic Balboa Pavilion on Thursday, September 4th, 2025.
