![]() Newport Beach has a proud history of boat building, from early wooden trawlers and yachts to Navy vessels during World War II. Yards like Hans Dickerman Boat Works, South Coast Boat Building, and the Lido Shipyard once made the harbor a hub of craftsmanship, producing everything from pleasure boats to sub-chasers. As technology shifted to fiberglass and waterfront land grew more valuable, most yards closed or transformed. Today, the tradition lives on through yacht clubs and events like the Newport Beach Wooden Boat Festival. We keep the maritime heritage alive with our incredible harbor. |
